Barrie–Springwater–Oro-Medonte MP Doug Shipley and Barrie-Innisfil MP John Brassard are holding a Family Snow Sculpture Contest this month.
Shipley and Brassard kicked off the contest by building their own snow sculpture of a Canadian Flag behind the Southshore Community Centre in Barrie on Feb. 4.
Residents are encouraged to join the fun, get outside to build their most creative snow sculptures and then post photos of their creations on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and tag either MP Shipley (@DougShipleyBSOM) or MP Brassard (@JohnBrassardCPC) with the hashtag #FebruarySnowSculpture.
“We truly live in a winter wonderland and I hope that this contest will inspire families to spend some time together, have some laughs and get creative in the snow. I’m looking forward to seeing what Barrie-Innisfil creates,” said Brassard.
The contest is open to all residents of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte and Barrie-Innisfil and will run until Feb. 26. The three sculptures that receive the most likes and shares on social media will be awarded prizes from local businesses that will be delivered to each winner by MPs Brassard and Shipley.
“This will be a great opportunity to get outside with family and friends, have some fun, and create some beautiful snow sculptures,” said Shipley.
