In addition to launching a judicial inquiry into the SNC Lavalin Scandal, Canada’s Conservatives will introduce legislation to attach stiff penalties for violating ethics laws and strengthen the powers of parliamentary watchdogs during its first 100 days. The penalties will be proportional to the severity of the violation and the seniority of the offender and they will carry a maximum fine of $20,000. This includes the sections of the Act that deal with conflict of interest, preferential treatment, insider information, influence, accepting gifts and other violations.

Restoring a fair, compassionate, and orderly immigration system: Canada’s Conservatives have a plan to restore fairness and compassion to our immigration system and to restore order at our borders. We will restore fairness and support the family reunification program, particularly in cases involving parents and grandparents. We will close the loophole in the Safe Third Country Agreement. We will continue to support settlement services. We know that effective funding allocation is critical in ensuring that immigrants in all regions have fair access to services such as language training, credential recognition, as well as specific services for vulnerable newcomers such as women and girls and members of the LGBTQ+ community. We will hire 250 additional CBSA enforcement officers. Extra staff resources are required to cope with those who abuse the generosity of our immigration system. We will move existing Immigration and Refugee Board judges to common illegal border crossing points, speeding up the process and therefore making it less attractive to enter Canada illegally. We will maintain the open federalism policy of the previous Conservative government, listening carefully to the provinces on immigration issues. A Conservative government would be ready to negotiate with the Government of Quebec to discuss the selection of those who wish to settle in Quebec. We will be open to requests to amend the Canada-Quebec Accord on Immigration.

October 8/2019:

‪Starting to see some powerful images on social media. Looks like Veterans in Alberta started this. Don’t know who but it is clearly directed Justin Trudeau for what he said to Brock Blaszczyk in Edmonton about Veterans asking for more than he can give them.

October 7/2019:‪

A Conservative Government will not charge to visit Canadian Museums if elected so our accomplishments as a nation can be celebrated with pride and our history can be understood by future generations in an effort to continually work on building a better Canada. In addition, to honour the achievements of our past leaders, we will designate the grave sites of past Prime Ministers and Governors General as national historic sites.

Canada’s Conservatives believe that the federal government can play an important role in developing a strategy to assist those living with autism and their families. As Prime Minister, Andrew Scheer will work with autism stakeholders to develop a National Autism Strategy. An initial investment of $50 million over five years would be invested to develop a comprehensive strategy in consultation with autistic individuals, autism organizations, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments, and indigenous communities. The National Autism Strategy will be person-centred, include first-person perspectives, will be culturally appropriate, and will reflect the needs of Canada’s northern, rural, and remote communities.

October 1/2019:

Taking care of Canadians will be a priority for a Conservative Government led by Andrew Scheer by cutting 25% of foreign aid spending – The reduction will come from middle- and upper-income countries as well as hostile regimes. We will use the savings to pay for policies that help Canadians get ahead at home and also redirect $700 million to strengthen foreign aid in the countries that need it most. We will continue to work in partnership with leading Canadian aid organizations including volunteer-focused groups who provide much-needed assistance to developing countries.

September 30/2019:

Allowing more Canadians with disabilities to access financial support, Canada’s Conservatives will reduce the number of hours spent on life-sustaining therapy required to qualify for the Disability Tax Credit from 14 to 10 hours per week. This after Justin Trudeau changed how Canadians qualify for the DTC and the Registered Disability Savings Plan, stripping important financial support from thousands of Canadians with disabilities. This announcement allows 35,000 more Canadians with disabilities the potential to access savings of an average of $2,100 a year. It’s Time For You To Get Ahead!

September 29/2019:

We will introduce a Green Homes Tax Credit for green home renovations and improvements. Canadians will be eligible to receive a 20% refundable credit for green improvements to their homes of over $1,000 and up to $20,000. This will allow Canadians to save up to $3,800 on their renovations each year.

September 24/2019:

We held our campaign kick-off and office-opening last night.  Thanks to everyone who came out for the great conversation(s).  Take a look at this video from CTV News Barrie, covering our official opening!

September 23/2019:

“With his poor judgement and tax hikes, Justin Trudeau has put the dream of home ownership further out of reach for so many, especially young Canadians,” Scheer said. “As Prime Minister, I will fix his bad policies and work to get more homes on the market to lower the price of housing.”

-Andrew Scheer

September 22/2019:

“To every Veteran who has struggled and who continues to struggle without the support and benefits you have earned through your service, my message is this: You deserve better. After October 21, we are going to make things better,” Scheer said. “Instead of forcing Veterans to work harder for government benefits, it’s time the government worked harder for our Veterans’ benefit. It’s time for a government that works harder for you; it’s time for you to get ahead.”

-Andrew Scheer

I introduced Bill C-378 to enshrine in legislation a Sacred Convenant between the people of Canada and those in the military who served our Country and those who continue to serve as well as their families. Canada would have been only the 2nd Country in the world to do so along with Great Britain. It was voted down by the Liberals. This morning, Conservative Party of Canada – Parti conservateur du Canada Leader Andrew Scheer announced that we will enact this sacred obligation in legislation. I explain what it means in this video:

September 21/2019: Lake Simcoe Clean-up Fund:  Andrew Scheer would provide $30 million over for years to support over 200 community-based projects.

September 19/2019:

The first of several policy announcements in our seniors platform: A Conservative government will increase the Age Credit by $1,000 per year, per senior helping low to middle income seniors the most.

September 18/2019:

Over the last four years, Justin Trudeau has raised taxes on middle-class Canadians while handing billions of dollars to his wealthy and well-connected friends. A new Conservative government would stop the handouts to wealthy executives, shareholders, and foreign companies and instead use that money to make life more affordable for Canadians.

September 17/2019:

Increasing RESP Grants will help parents save more for post-secondary education. A new Conservative government will boost the RESP grant from 20 per cent to 30 per cent on every dollar invested up to $2,500 a year. This change will boost the maximum annual grant from $500 to $750.. We will also boost the maximum lifetime grant from $7,500 to $12,000. Its time for you and your family to get ahead!

September 16/2019:

Whether it’s hockey, soccer, lacrosse, dance, piano lessons, or summer sports and theatre camps, the announcement by Andrew Scheer to return what were well used and appreciated tax credits by parents, will help you pay for your children to pursue their passions.

September 15/2019:

While Justin Trudeau gives your tax dollars to his well connected Liberal friends, Canada’s Conservatives will deliver a tax-cut targeted specifically at taxpayers in the lowest-income tax bracket. This means that every Canadian will see their income taxes go down, and those in the lowest tax bracket see the biggest benefit of all.

Canadians pay nearly half of their income on various taxes.  You are spending almost as much in taxes to support the cost of Government than you are spending to support your family.  The Universal Tax Cut will help you get ahead!

September 13/2019:

Today Andrew Scheer announced the Green Public Transit Tax Credit. 1.8 million Canadians benefitted from the Transit Tax Credit before it was eliminated in 2017. A single transit user regularly commuting on GO Transit from Barrie-Innisfil to downtown Toronto would save around $650 or more per year. The credit would also help local Transit users. It’s Time For You To Get Ahead!
