Dear Barrie-Innisfil:
Hundreds of you have reached out to me over the past few days supporting the need to end all federal COVID mandates and restrictions.
I have been calling for this action for well over a year. On March 1, 2021, I issued a joint news release with Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP Doug Shipley saying lockdowns and restrictions by default must stop and that we had to manage the virus by using every tool available to us.
On Thursday, Feb. 10, I co-sponsored a motion with Interim Leader Candice Bergen, asking the Trudeau government to table a plan in the House of Commons no later than Feb. 28, detailing when ALL restrictions and mandates will be lifted.
The sooner the plan is presented, and mandates are ended, the better.
Members of Parliament will be voting on the motion in the House of Commons on Monday afternoon (Feb. 14). Of course, I will be voting in favour.
Canadians have made incredible, often life-changing sacrifices over the past two years. It’s time to fully reopen our economy and begin working together to unite our country. It’s time we get to some sense of normalcy in all of our lives.
